My love of travel has taken me across the world, from South Africa and the USA to Asia, Australia, India and across Europe. Spending over 20 years as cabin crew with Qatar Airways and Virgin Atlantic gave me the chance to experience so many different cultures, places and ways of travelling.

For me, it’s never just been about where you go, but how it all comes together - the little details, the feeling of a place, and the moments you remember long after you’re home.

Now, I love using that experience to help others plan trips that feel right for them. Whether it’s a relaxing escape, a big adventure or something a bit different, I enjoy shaping ideas into something that really works.

Q. When did you start working in the travel industry?

A. I started my career with Qatar Airways in 2001, based in Doha as cabin crew.

Q. Why did you start working in travel / what brought you to the industry?

A. Travel was always around me growing up, as my dad worked on cruise ships. I grew up hearing stories about different parts of the world, which definitely sparked something. It felt like a natural step to go and experience it for myself, which led me into cabin crew.

Q. What’s your favourite aspect of your job?

A. I love helping people turn an idea into a real trip. Whether someone comes in with a clear plan or just a rough idea, it’s nice being part of shaping something they’re genuinely excited about.

Q. What quality (or qualities) are most valuable in a travel agent?

A. Listening properly. Everyone travels differently, so understanding what someone actually wants - not just the obvious things - makes all the difference.

Q. Best piece of advice / top travel tip?

A. Download anything important before you go - maps, boarding passes, hotel details. Wi-Fi always seems to disappear when you need it most.

About Claire:

Q. What would you be doing if you weren’t a travel expert?

A. Hopefully retired somewhere warm! Failing that, I’d probably run a coffee shop and spend my time people-watching.
