We Don’t Just Plan Holidays… We Recover Lost Bears Too

Sometimes it’s the smallest things that mean the most.

Back in 2024, one of our lovely clients, Susan, travelled to Christchurch as part of her New Zealand tour with ANZCRO. During her stay at The George, she was given a rather special companion - a “George Bear”.

Each guest receives one, along with a simple idea: take the bear on your travels, snap photos along the way, and give it its own little adventure around the world.

Naturally, Susan did exactly that.

The bear joined her on a river cruise last year… but somewhere along the journey, it disappeared from her cabin and never made it home to Bristol. A tragic end to what was shaping up to be a strong travel career.

Fast forward to this year.

While travelling through New Zealand, one of our team made a slight detour back into Christchurch - specifically to return to The George - on a mission to find a replacement George Bear.

Mission accomplished.

The new bear has now been safely delivered back to Susan, ready to pick up where the last one left off.

She’s already planning her return to New Zealand later this year - although this time, Christchurch isn’t on the itinerary… so it’s probably for the best the bear situation is now under control.

It’s a small story, but a good reminder of what travel is really about.

Not just the destinations, but the details - the moments, the memories… and occasionally, making sure a lost bear finds its way home.
