Moving west across the vast, open plains of central Canada, you eventually reach the clean, uncongested and open cities of Edmonton and Calgary. Further west lie the great Rocky Mountains. One of our favourite trips begins in Calgary and includes driving along the Glacier highway which links Banff to Jasper and gives visitors the opportunity to see the best of the national parks in the region.

The West Coast has vibrant Vancouver. Often described as Manhattan with mountains and only thirty minutes from the ski slopes but also perfectly placed for sailing in the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver is a gem and our favourite city in Canada. Vancouver is well worth a visit. 

A rail tours is the best way to see Canada if you want to combine both the west and east coast. From the metropolitan cities and forested landscapes of the east to the dramatic mountain ranges and rugged vistas of the west, train journeys showcase Canada's vast beauty and captivating cultures free from the pressures of road or air travel. However, a car is sufficient for exploring the best of the west.
