The fifth largest country on earth, Brazil is a land of immense flora and fauna diversity with unmatched wilderness in the Amazon jungle and landmarks such as Iguazu Falls. Bustling cities and world-class festivals, there is plenty to see and do in Brazil.
Due purely to the vastness of the country, Brazil has a wide range of landscapes, environments, history and people. As a result, the country’s culture is rich and diverse. Brazilians are welcoming, warm and fun-loving. In line with the pure size of the place, the climate also varies. In the North near the Equator, a wet and dry season persists, whereas in the South a marked Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter cycle exists.
A country of natural wonders, the list of places to visit is endless. The Amazon is top of most visitors’ lists. Home to more than 50% of the world’s rainforest, with over one billion acres of immense diversity, the Amazon is home to 2.5 million insect species, 50,000 plant species, 2,200 fish species and more than 2,000 types of bird, the Amazonian basin is the richest wilderness on earth. The Pantanal wetland expanse is another biologically diverse ecosystem and is truly massive. Visit here along with one of the many waterfalls and you’ll have your fill of nature at its greatest.
Away from the depths of the Amazon and exploring endemic fauna, Brazil has much to offer. Carnival in late-Feb / early-March is a big attraction with street parades taking place in most cities – the best being Rio, Salvador, Ouro Preto and Sao Paulo. Almost the entire coastline of Brazil is blessed with gorgeous beaches and any trip must include some time taking in the coastline.
